The tour has everything that makes a levada path interesting – rock breakthroughs, tunnels and, above all, the lush vegetation of a subtropical mountain forest. The almost all year-round humid environment provides additional fascination and giant tree ferns are our constant companions. Wagtails sway along the “Cold River” and chaffinches peck at the resting places for leftover crumbs straight out of your hand.
