Madeira’s warm Atlantic waters and consistent trade winds create excellent conditions for learning to windsurf. Our beginner and intermediate windsurfing lessons take place in sheltered bays along the southern coast, where the water is calmer and conditions are manageable for those just starting out. Qualified instructors guide you from the basics of board balance and sail control through to tacking and jibing once you’re comfortable.
The island’s subtropical climate means windsurfing is possible year-round. Summer brings lighter winds and warmer water — ideal for beginners. Autumn and winter bring stronger, more consistent trade winds that experienced windsurfers particularly appreciate. All equipment is provided: board, sail, wetsuit, and buoyancy aid. No prior experience needed for beginner lessons.
