The southwest of Madeira is dominated by one of Europe’s great geographical features — Cabo Girão, a sea cliff that plunges 580 metres straight into the Atlantic. Standing on the glass-floored viewing platform at the top is not for the faint-hearted, but it is one of the defining Madeira experiences.
