THIS TOUR IS A LESS PHYSICAL AND LESS TECHNICAL TOUR FOR THE BEGINNERS, BUT NOT A LESS INTERESTING WAY TO EXPLORE MADEIRA ON A MOUNTAIN BIKE.
After a small briefing with tips and tricks about the tour and the mountain bike, the tour starts at Poiso (Alt.1400m) with a small and easy uphill. Moments later and after the guide's suggestion based on the skills of the riders, we have the possibility to ride in some easy single trails or to continue on the road and dirt roads until we get to the 'levada' (water-channel). From here (Alt.850m) it is a 20km relaxed ride along the 'levada' where we will be surrounded by a beautiful mixture of laurel, eucalyptus and pine trees. Near the village Camacha we stop for a cold drink and a light lunch in a very typical bar. After the stop, we continue our 'levada' that crosses through the colorful village of Camacha, before we start our final ride with more or less 10km of smooth road, all the way down back to the Lokoloko shop, that only requires the effort of fingers on the brakes, but always with a big view over the ocean.
Suitable for: riders in good health with confortable bike skills (Madeira is a steep island, therefore it is not possible to avoid all the steep dirt and asphalf roads in Madeira, so good control of the brakes is important). Suitable for all kinds of Hardtail and Full-suspension bikes.
Terrain: some trails relatively wide with some small obstacles as roots and rocks
